September 27: Feast of St. Vincent de Paul

St. Vincent de Paul (1581-1660), is the founder of the Fathers of the Mission and the Daughter of Charity . He was also one of the teachers of French spirituality in the XVII century. But, most of all, he was one who was consumed by Christian charity. One who helps the less fortunate to help, because he has found Jesus in all who suffer.

Thank you!

Archdiocesan Ember Day

Archbishop Vlazny has announced that September 26, 2007, will be an Archdiocesan Ember Day. Traditionally, Ember Days are days of prayer and fasting at home, in schools, at church, in private. The intention of this Ember Day is for the healing of victims of child abuse and their reconciliation with the Church and community. To fast means to eat one full meal; the other two meals that day should be less than the normal amount unless they are already at a minimum for good health. Eating between meals is not permitted; however, liquids including coffee, milk and fruit juices are allowed. Observance of the Ember Day is encouraged but not obligatory.

Greeters. Thank you to those who have responded to our call for greeters. We still have spaced available for others who would like to join this ministry at the 7:30 and 9:30 am Sunday Masses. All that is required is a few minutes of your time, a smile to welcome those arriving for Mass, and handing them a Missal and song book. For more information please call Lorraine Gianella @ 503-982-9192.
