St. Luke School Thank you….
Thank you to all who supported the school by ordering or renewing your magazine subscriptions. The School actually exceeded their goal of $17,000. The first part of the drive is over. The second part of the drive is the mailing of postcards by the Magazine Subscription Company on behalf of St. Luke’s School students to family and/or friends. Family members and friends can also order magazines from these mailings and St. Luke’s School will also receive 40% of each order placed. October 24: St. Anthony Mary Claret Weaver. Born on 23 December 1807 in Sallent, Catalonia, Spain. Seminary student with Blessed Francis Coll. Ordained on 13 June 1835. Missionary in Catalonia and the Canary Islands. Directed retreats. Founded the congregation of Missionary Sons of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (Claretians). Archbishop of Santiago de Cuba on 20 May 1850. Founded the Teaching Sister of Mary immaculate. Following his work in the Caribbean, Blessed Pope Piux IX ordered him back to Spain. Confessor to Queen Isabella II, and was exiled with her. Had the gifts of prophecy and miracles. Reported to have preached 10,000 sermons, published 200 works. Spread devotion to the Blessed Sacrament and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Musicals. Center Stage presents two musicals based on stories from the book of Genesis, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and The Diary of Adam and Eve, by the writer of Fiddler on the Roof. These musicals will benefit St. Joseph’s Shelter. Performances are Friday and Saturday, October 26 & 27 at Eugene Field School in Silverton. Tickets can be purchased at Olde Towne Flower Shoppe, West Coast Bank, Mt. Angel Shopper and Uptown Music.

Craft Fair. St. Louis Parish (Gervais) announces its Annual Altar Society Craft Fair to be held from 9 am—4 pm on Friday and Saturday Nov. 2 & 3, 2007 at St. Louis Hall at 14013 Manning Rd., Gervais. Quilted, knitted, crocheted and many other handmade items will be available for purchase. Lunch is available. Proceeds benefit the church and school.
