| FROM FR. DAVE. Recently there was a great flooding in the state of Tobasco, Mexico, causing widespread devastation. At the Spanish Masses on Sunday, November 11 we took up a special collection to assist those needing help at this time. It was decided to send the money collected ($2,320.38) to Medical Teams International (formerly Northwest Medical Teams). To see what this agency is doing to help the people of Tabasco and thoughout the world, you can enter the Medical Teams International website on the internet. If anyone else would like to help, you may send your donation to St. Luke or directly to this agency.
November 30: St. Andrew
Andrew was a disciple of John the Baptist, one of the twelve apostles, and the brother of St. Peter. He was a fisherman, lived at Capernaum and is always one of the first four in the lists of the twelve apostles. According to tradition, he preached in northeastern Greece, although completely unreliable accounts place him in Ethiopia. He was said to have been crucified on an X-shaped cross in Patras, Greece, although the description of the cross can be traced back no farther than the fourteenth century. Similarly, all accounts of his later life and death are unreliable. He is the patron saint of Russia because he was said the have preached there.
