November 17: Elizabeth of Hungary
A princess, the daughter of King Andrew of Hungary, great-aunt of St. Elizabeth of Portugal. At the age of 13 she married Prince Louis of Thuringa. Elizabeth was a lifelong friend of the poor and gave herself entirely to relieving the hungry. She ordered that one of her castles should be converted into a hospital in which she gathered many of the weak and feeble. She generously gave alms to all who were in need, not only in that place but in all the territories of her husband’s empire. She spent all her own revenue from her husband’s four principalities, and finally she sold her luxurious possessions and rich clothes for the sake of the poor.

St. Luke School News CONGRATULATIONS.
The students, staff and parents of St. Luke School congratulate Mrs. Julie Hockett, School Secretary who on November 1st was awarded the Crystal Apple Award in recognition of her service to education and St. Luke School. During the seven years that Mrs. Hockett has been the secretary, she has exemplified the spirit of being a Christ-like Ambassador as she assists children, parents and staff. Her accessibility and compassion are well-known and we are thankful to have her here at St. Luke´s.
