November 10: Leo the Great
Pope and Doctor Saint Leo was born around the year 400 in Tuscany, Italy. He was of Italian nobility and a strong student, especially in scripture and theology. As a priest he was an eloquent writer and homilist. Saint Leo was raised to the See of Peter in 440. He was a true pastor and father of souls. He labored strenuously to safeguard the purity of the faith and vigorously defended the unity of the Church. He pushed back or at least softened the onrush of the barbarians. He has then deservedly won the title “the Great.” He died in 461.

St. Luke School Principal Guile has declared Monday November 5th a day of Rest and Reflection for St. Luke School students. The day will begin with a quiet morning prayer which the student council and Mr. Guile will lead. The teachers have planned the day as a quiet and reflective time. This is a time for the children to feel God’s presence in their everyday surroundings. Parents are also asked to take this opportunity to extend the message in how things occur at home. How do our kids learn to rest and reflect unless we teach and model it? Let’s teach our children to take time to rest and reflect on the wonders that God has created for each and everyone of us to enjoy.
